Problem with synching Opticon and Concordance

Postby jdink22 » Wed Sep 05, 2007 11:48 am

Has anyone had issues with synching Opticon (v.3.2) and Concordance (v.8.2)? We have verified that all the "correct" settings are marked, but the navigation buttons in Opticon still won't advance the records in Concordance. Opticon pulls up the correct image if you click on a record within Concordance, but it doesn't seem to work in the opposite direction. This seems like a user setting because only a handful of our users are experiencing the issue, even within the same database. Any ideas?

The answer to my issue had to do with unregistering the concordance.exe and opticon.exe files...then re-registering them. There appeared to be some sort of communication error. Lexis gave me some short instructions on how to do this and it seems to be working fine afterward:

How to Un-register the Communication:

Make sure that both Concordance and Opticon are closed. In order to unregister the Communication from Concordance 8 and Opticon 3 you must go to Start | Run within the OS and browse to the (full filepath to Concordance) and then type a space and the following: -UnregServer

ie: "C:\Program Files\Dataflight\Concordance\Concordance.exe" -unregserver

(Windows XP will automatically put quotes around the path)

We're going to do the same thing for Opticon:

(full filepath to Opticon) -UnregServer

ie: "C:\Program Files\Dataflight\Opticon\Opticon.exe" -unregserver

After you have done this for Concordance and Opticon, open Concordance 8 and open Opticon 3 through the File Menu in the OS via Start | Programs. Make sure that you do not open Opticon from the camera button within Concordance or the registration will not be complete. Then you can close Opticon 3 and then use the camera button to open the images.
