iCONECT Adds Concept Searching from Content Analyst

Postby jtao » Thu Oct 08, 2009 12:46 pm

iCONECT® Development, LLC’s award winning review and collaboration platform, iCONECTnXT, now includes concept search and document clustering technology from Content Analyst Company, LLC, a leading provider of conceptual search and advanced text analytics software. Concept searching is key to preventing inadvertent waiver of privilege (as outlined in FRE 502 — Attorney-Client Privilege and Work-Product Doctrine), and meets increasing demands from the courts for more accurate search strategies.

“iCONECT’s thoughtful integration of the CAAT engine into their robust yet intuitive iCONECT review platforms offers iCONECT users incredible power to intelligently sort and find all relevant information with much greater efficiency,” said Kurt Michel, President of Content Analyst Company. “The technology in CAAT differs from keyword and linguistic-driven search solutions by employing patented mathematics. Patented algorithms enable CAAT to essentially ‘learn’ terminology and relevance without the need for dictionaries, word lists, or extensive human intervention.”

Concept searching goes beyond keyword matching to include all documents that describe the same subject matter or concepts regardless of the specific terms or words used. For example, concept searching understands that the words “terminating” and “firing” and also the phrase “ending association with” are all describing the same idea or meaning. This type of intelligence is critical to privilege reviews and retaining the clawback rights outlined in FRE 502.

The clustering feature provides a pre-review analysis to organize related documents into concept-based folders, identify what issues are present in the overall collection, and enable your top reviewers to focus on the key documents. This filtering capability reduces review time, improves accuracy, and saves costs.

“iCONECT’s future-driven philosophy means keeping up with the latest technologies so our clients can compete in today’s world,” said Cynthia Williams, CEO of iCONECT Development, LLC. “We identified Content Analyst’s concept search and document clustering solutions as the best of a new breed of analytic technologies, and we are pleased to provide this integrated solution.”

Firms can purchase iCONECTnXT as an in-house solution or use one of iCONECT’s worldwide network of over 50 application service providers (ASPs) to host their legal projects. ASPs offer hosting with nXT as a key component of their overall e-discovery offering to law firms, government agencies and corporations.

For in-house installations, firms can choose the best fit for their infrastructure requirements: nXT as a self-contained product with embedded database technology; nXT connected to Microsoft SQL Server (NASDAQ:MSFT); or nXT connected to Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL).
